The village of Prendwick was raided by the Scots in 1533 and 1543. A local man, Thomas Alder, built a small tower as a defence, and it is mentioned in documents in 1541 and 1584. However, the tower has since disappeared, and its site is not known. (Keys to the Past)
Prendwick was raided by the Scots in 1533 and 1543. By way of defence Thomas Alder built a little tower which is mentioned in 1541 and 1584 but has now completely disappeared (Dodds 1935).
The present buildings at Prendwick contain no traces of antiquity, and the owner had no knowledge of the former existence of a tower there. The site of the tower could not be identified and local enquiries revealed no significant field names (F1 DAD 03-MAY-1957). (Northumberland HER)
