Cross House has massive rubble masonry and megalithic quoins of typical bastle type; the walls appear to be at least 1m thick. Externally the building measures 8.63m by 6.4m; the house has been completely remodelled within the last 20 years and no old features, other than the masonry, are visible. There is a later outshut on the north and an adjacent range of farmbuildings at the west end; these are of some age in themselves and have one door with an elliptical arched head cut from a single block (Ryder 1994-5). (Northumberland HER)

Bastle 8.4 m by 6.4 m, much altered. Range of seventeenth century (?) buildings to south included one elliptical-arched doorway. (Ryder 1992)
