Mentioned once in 1216, site but thought to be in Northumberland. Probably another name for a known castle.

Gatehouse Comments

Renn suggests either Styford, Tweedmouth and Tynemouth. King suggests Mitford. Given the other castles mentioned in that source are the major castles of Newcastle, Durham, Norham and Berwick arguably Tynemouth is the most likely although Mitford is also a reasonable suggestion and is more similar in name form. Can certainly be rejected as the the site of an otherwise unknown castle.
