Bawdon Castle has been suggested as a former settlement site but on unknown grounds. In 1354, it was apparently called 'little castle'. (Leicestershire and Rutland HER)

Gatehouse Comments

The Bowden Castle place-name was recorded in 1481. There is also nearby a Baileys Wood. Not an apparent manorial centre but within Charnwood Forest so possibly an early hunting lodge site?
