Aerial Photographs show a motte and bailey earthwork, with a mound and slight double enclosure as cropmarks. It's associated with a possible Deserted Medieval Village site. (Herefordshire Through Time)

Gatehouse Comments

Silver Tump was an adjacent farm which was gone by 1973. Sited at top of pass between Olchon Valley and Monnow Valley. Phillips writes 'There are no observable natural defences in the area and the only recognisable value of this site appears to be its position in rich agricultural land.'
