Possible motte in Iron Age camp.
Discussion by Roger Stirling-Brown about the west apex part of the site as to whether there had been any building on this point. The remaining evidence does not give any proof of building but the position would have made a good watch or beacon point. The author also feels that the theory of Dr Stanford that the inner rampart is the bank of the early first iron Age camp, later enlarged to its present size needs some evidence to corroborate this. The author feels that it could equally be a later Dark Age or feudal build, or earlier re use of a rampart. (Herefordshire SMR ref. HAN 1993)
