Possible remains of a Motte. The motte has a base diameter of 42m north west to south east by 38m transversely and is 6m high on the east side, but rises 8.5m from the stream. The summit is 9m across from north east to south west by 16m north west to south east. (PastScape)

Gatehouse Comments

Rejected by Hogg & King and has had further doubt put on it by Shoesmith (2009) and Peter Halliwell. This is a natural mound, which may, or may not, have been used as a motte. It is isolated from settlement. It is positioned overlooking but not particularly controlling a crossing of the River Arrow.
