Series of irregular earthworks including a circular mound of about 1m high. Possibly a house platform or motte. Members of the archaeology section of the Woolhope Club visited the site on 05/05/91. The site consists of a roughly circular mound, which is only slightly higher than the surrounding ground. There is a ditch surrounding the mound to the west, north and east that appears to be silted up. There appears to be a triangular enclosure to the west and a possible larger enclosure to the north. It looks like a possible low level house site common to the Eardisley Lordship estates. (Herefordshire SMR)

See also Chickward Mound 1 Domesday does record two manors in Chickward (see Herefordshire SMR record 24383 although these manors were probably sub tenanted) (Gatehouse thanks Colin Boylett for giving a more accurate grid reference than that given in the SMR)
