Vanished Henry VIII artillery earthwork and timber blockhouse, guarding the mouth of the Colne, built 1543 and abandoned 1553. (Kent)

Gatehouse Comments

Presumably on river side opposite to St Osyth Stone Point. However Westmarsh point, as the name suggests, is an area of marsh. A dry spot may have been found in 1543, and the point called Bateman's tower seems to be such an area, but whatever was built is likely have been eroded away. Location given is only a best guess.
