It was originally alleged by the Ordnance Survey that this was the site of Willeava, a pele tower of 15th/16th century date. However, on the 1603 survey map they consider it to be the Mealfarme, a possible mill. Foundations were uncovered during excavation, but no trace of the building is now visible. It is believed that Wileava was at Collin Bank. (PastScape)

Gatehouse Comments

This location given by King for vanished pele tower or bastle of Willeava from 1603 survey. He was, presumably, working from the OS record. The rejection of the site was made by Perriam and Robinson.
