Site of possible bastle. Maughan, writing in 1852 said it was on the south side of the river, 33ft long an 18ft broad, with walls 3ft thick. Creshopeued mentioned 1292. Heade of Cresshope mentioned 1590. (PastScape–ref. Perriam and Robinson)

Gatehouse Comments

The roofed building on the site is the size given by Maughan. Does it contain thick walls? Is it the building Maughan was writing about or a replacement on the same line?
