There is no evidence that the Wall was reused {in the C16}, but perhaps the Milecastles were. Although there is no direct evidence the Milecastles would have made convenient barmkins.

'...a comparatively modern modern building has occupied the site' (Simpson). Finds dated from the period 1650-1750, but included an Elizabethan jug. (Perriam and Robinson 1998)

Gatehouse Comments

The dating of the finds reported in Simpson (1913) was made in the early C20 and definitely are occupation finds (pottery, bottles, tobacco pipes). Would more modern dating change the possible post Roman occupation dates?
