A stonehouse or bastle was noted in the 1603 survey of fortified places at Townfoot, Gilsand:

NY551519. 'Henri Newton a tenement and ground adjoyninge more south (being also a stonehouse)...' This is probably under Turnberry Farmhouse. Shown on the 1865 OS map as Albyfield. Not visited. (PastScape ref. Perriam and Robinson)
