A survey in 1984 of the barn at Croglin Townhead suggests that the barn may be a bastle derivative. Living room at first floor level with external flight of steps. (PastScape)

Possible bastle. Building with living room at first floor with external flight. Window has cut mullion, door lintel inscribed 'J W G 171-'. Similar to Glassonby White House. (Perriam and Robinson)
