'Castleber' is a prominent natural hill-ridge with excellent all-round visibility from its summit. The area is ploughed and featureless and is still known as Castleber. The origin of the name is unknown locally. (F1 ISS 05-JAN-78). (PastScape)

Hill ridge, ploughed and featureless. Reportedly 'a low mound where it is said a castle once stood' The place-name may have originate with a Roman Camp at NY740167. Rejected by Jackson as just a place-name.
