Gatehouse Comments

This could be any of three villages in old south Huntingdonshire; Hatley St George, East Hatley or Cockayne Hatley. There are several moats at East Hatley (including one called 'The Palace') and Hatley Park stately home is at Hatley St George. None of these is considered to be a castle site by the PastScape but C13 pottery has been found at The Palace (TL285502). It should also be noted that the manor of East Hatley was held by the Castell family from the time of Henry VII. Map reference for 'The Palace' although this is not confirmed as Harvey's castle.
