Late Anglo-Saxon fortifications used post Conquest. Part found in excavation in 1973. Bond puts the defences in his 'of no post-Conquest significance' list.

Commercial excavations on the corner of Temple Street and Bourbon Street (SP 81861373), Aylesbury, produced evidence of the medieval town ditch, of which there appears to have been no previous record. (PastScape–ref 1972, Buckinghamshire County Museum Report)
