Vanished. It was probably of short-lived motte and bailey construction, erected either in the immediate aftermath of the Conquest, or the civil strife of the early C12. It was evidently located within the late Anglo-Saxon fortifications in the area later known as the Castle Fee, bounded by Bourbon Street, Temple Street, Temple Square and Rickford's Hill. A Royal demense manor of the Norman kings but abandoned after them.
