Barn 200m South East of Helsfell Farmhouse II Barn, probably remains of old Helsfell Hall, probably C16 with later alterations. Limestone rubble walls, graduated green slate roof. Original windows with moulded labels and moulded ceiling beam according to RCHME. Poor condition at time of survey. (Listed Building Report)

Outbuilding, probably remains of old Helsfell Hall, 220 yards S.E. of Helsfell House, was built probably early in the 16th century. It was formerly of three storeys and has a number of original windows with rounded heads to the lights and moulded labels; they are now blocked. Inside the building is an original moulded ceiling-beam. (RCHME 1936)

Matthew Emmott's pictures show this is a masonry solar wing of a, now lost, timber hall. Some evidence of domestic security but not of fortification.
