Barn here is a former house built in the style of a bastle, though with relatively thin walls. Dodds does not consider it a stronghouse, (though he has included it). It is dated1567, with the initials GO for it's builder Gabriel Ogle. Dodds proceeds to explain the importance of the site as one of the original estates of the barony of Bolam. Site of DMV.
