Clwyd Powys Archaeological Trust record of ? medieval motte reads 'Name suggests possible presence E of mounds. No such feature noted (CPAT site visit, 1978).

Gatehouse Comments

The RCAHMW Inventory lists this as a 'site of historic or antiquarian interest' but also found 'no signs of ancient remains' Hillside site much more likely to be barrow position than castle. There does not seem to be any serious suggestion of castle here has actually ever been made.
