A segment of mound, 31m N-S and 3.8-4.6m high, remains of a motte and bailey castle, with the motte being ditched and the bailey lying to the S along the river-plain scarp. (Coflein)

Over 5/6ths of Ynyscrug, a large circular mound about 100ft high, badly damaged C.1855 to make way for the railway. A sketch of the mound shows a motte & moat. (Glamorgan-Gwent Archaeological Trust HER)
