Unidentified castle mentioned in ca. 1150. ( Lib. Land., p. 134). Identification with Trecastle unlikely. Should be located at SN871391, where no structure is recorded. Name does not necessarily imply a 'castle' in the sense of this index. (King and Hogg)

Name possibly signifying a defensive site (RCAHM archive). No such feature noted by OS, 1976 who point out possible confusion with Par 799 (Clawdd Brythonig Hillfort at SN86253687). (Clwyd Powys Archaeological Trust HER)
