Clark lists a 'large artificial moated mound' at Moel-y-crio, near Northope. The only mound near Moel-y-crio is 'A circular mound, 17m in diameter and 1.6m high, possibly a natural feature or a spoil heap.' (Coflein).

Gatehouse Comments

This is not really a 'large artificial mound' and perhaps Clark was actually referring to something else, near Northop, but what? Clark's descriptions, sometimes derived from reports by others and not his own observations, are not always consistent and accurate so the Coflein record is probably correct.
