Spurgeon records 'an ancient and very solidly-constructed house' demolished in 1892 with a tradition of being a castle of de Canetune family. He adds there is no reason to believe this was a fortified structure.
King records a possible castle mentioned by the welsh scholar and forger Edward Williams (Iolo Morgannwg). He does not locate this beyond it being in Glamorgan. Presumably this is the same although Spurgeon does not mention Morgannwg in relation to Canton.
