Gatehouse Comments

The lack of other authorities identification of this site must put doubt on it. The location is high in the Black Mountains but close to a minor road crossing the range, although the modern road crosses a stream a distance from the given site. The air photo and map suggest a natural feature and any possible man made adaptation of the site is not obvious. Possible site for a taxation point (of livestock as they go on and off the summer highland grazing) but requires examination by someone with castle studies expertise.
