Castle probably of motte & bailey type. Was probably destroyed between 1202 & c.1218 by the Monks of Margam Abbey - Nothing visible on aerial photographs. (Glamorgan-Gwent Archaeological Trust HER)
Castle given to Neath Abbey in about 1210. Renn writes destroyed 1202-18. Brown writes "Little is known of this castle which may have been held by a mense lord (of Gower lordship)"
