Second tower at St Bees priory is referred to in C17 and was probably in the field immediately to the west of the priory church, which is known as Tower Flatt. (PastScape–ref. Perriam and Robinson)

Gatehouse Comments

One of two towers associated with St Bees Priory site. The other being the Priors Pele This tower may have been associated with an Abbey gatehouse or maybe the reference to a tower was a confused reference to a gatehouse.
