Alleged Medieval castle earthworks. There were no traces visible during field investigation in 1967.
"Westward of Newbold on Avon church and churchyard are the remains of earthworks, hardly discernible unless specially pointed out, being the site, as it is supposed, of one of those small castles, hastily erected in the wars between the Empress Maud and King Stephen, and demolished in the reign of Henry II" (Bloxam). No significant earthworks could be traced in the area indicated (F1 BHS 12-SEP-67). (PastScape)
