Possible siege mound from attack on Plympton castle in 1136. Identified by Stewart Ainsworth during a survey of Plympton in 1998 for Time Team.

Gatehouse Comments

A speculative suggestion, as admitted by him, and most probably a garden prospect mound associated with Plympton House. The mound per se does not seem to be recorded in the online archaeological databases and Ainsworth's suggestion that this was a medieval siege mount is unlikely to be made in print or to be reported to the HER.
