Later house incorporating remains of bastle. Rectangular building, 13.9 x 6.35m, incorporates large roughly-squared masonry of bastle type in lower part of north east end and south corner. The footings of the north east wall extend beyond the present house and suggest that the bastle was c.7.5m wide. The present house walls c0.65m thick, of squared stone, and is probably mid-19th century (F1 PFR 27-JUL-1990).
16th or early 17th century building, rebuilt in the 18th and altered in the mid 19th century. Built of coursed rubble with Welsh slate roof. Reconstructed out of a large bastlehouse, the massive boulder plinth of which remains intact. The house was probably rebuilt in the early 18th century reusing much of the original masonry. The walls are still almost a metre thick. The house was reroofed and the porch added in the mid 19th century; and the present ground-floor windows are 20th century enlargements. On the left gable end a very large lean-to buttress which really might belong to any of these periods (Grundy 1987). (Northumberland HER)
