A moated country house constructed in 1722-25 with additions of circa 1740. It replaced a castle licenced in 1332. The moat was infilled during the 19th century. The house is a copy of Palladio's famous villa overlooking Vicenza, the Villa Rotonda. It comprises a square block with free standing pavilions to the left and right. (PastScape)
