A castle site has been proposed here by David Whitehead and Bruce Coplestone-Crow. The position next to the church, topography, disturbed ground with remnants of earthworks, history and field names could indicate a possible castle site. Further investigation would be necessary including aerial photography. (Herefordshire SMR)

Gatehouse Comments

A large levelled enclosure, presumably of Roman date, lies nearby on the opposite side of the road (Herefordshire SMR 32071), which is certainly Roman, suggesting an alternative origin for the field names and possibly for the disturbed land (as a small vicus). However, this need not exclude medieval occupation.
