Court Farm, farmhouse at Hole-in-the-Wall, on the S. bank of the River Wye, ¾ m. E.N.E. of the church, is of two storeys with a basement and is built on a rectangular plan with a later addition on the N.E. end. In the W. wall of the basement is a small original window with chamfered jambs and a square head. (RCHME 1931)

Gatehouse Comments

Sometimes suggested as site for the licence to crenellate Eton granted in 1309 More probably a later manor house replacing the lost licenced manor house in Big Field. Contains C17 features (possibly C16) and inscription "John Abrahall 1610". No obvious signs of fortification. Probably not fortified and taking name and possibly some stone from Manor house in Big Field. Eaton was a Domesday village which took the name of the Tregoz family, which was deserted possibly in C14.
