CARN record of possible motte, possible moated homestead.

Moat Meadow

The name for two fields just west of the parish church is now not remembered . Nothing of archaeological interest is visible upon them , although a small motte castle may have once occupied the site._ Visited 27th May 1915. (RCAHMW 1925)

Gatehouse Comments

Nothing apparent on maps or aerial photo. Position in village by church is consistent with possible manorial centre. This seems to be placename evidence although perhaps this is actually 'mote' (as in a small speck) meadow.
