A possible medieval motte with post-medieval walls and foundations superimposed over the earthwork, it is certainly not natural. Modern (1970s) housing encroaches onto the feature. (Glamorgan-Gwent Archaeological Trust HER)

An isolated hill, set close by marshes and dunes near the mouth of the Neath river. (Coflein–J.Wiles 03.12.02 as a Rabbit Warren)

Gatehouse Comments

Close to Warren Hill Iron Age Hill fort. This is an area of ancient coal mining and consequent spoil heaps. This site appears to be recorded three times. There appears to be confusion between this site on the east bank of the river and the Hen Gastell site on the west bank of the river. Seemingly, Coflein, presumably on the bases of the Warren Hill placename, record this as a Rabbit Warren - which seems possible.
