In Clark's list of moated mounds or burhs, for Yorkshire, is recorded 'Sheep or Sharp Howe.'

Gatehouse Comments

This is a Bronze Age barrow, one of many in the area. Isolated from medieval settlement. No question of this having medieval use and even in Clark's time such a suggestion must have been questionable.
