Possible motte 300m north of church. (King 1983)
Mound 32m in diameter at base, 5.7m at the top, 3.35m high with a ditch 4.2m wide and now 0.66m deep. Mound is covered with trees. The mound is conical with a flat top, on which is a brick column, 10-12 feet high. Small trench cut into S side The mound lies on a hill called Devil's Hill and is apparently a folly: 'There is a hill called Devil's Hill and there is a mound erected somewhere about 1800 by my great uncle, Roger Pettiward - for private reasons - partly to dispose of some superfluous soil, and partly to conceal a sewage vent pipe.'
