Like Elsdon, Gunnerton also has a bastle derivative. It is Close House in the village street, and it dates from about 1600. It is basically a two-storey building with four feet thick walls, but it has a later single-storey building at one end and three doors with Tudor-style lintels have been inserted. (Dodds 1999)

Gatehouse Comments

The building is not listed nor recorded in the archaeological databases and Dodds description and his assertion regardinga date of 1600 or this being a bastle 'derivative' (whatever he means by that term) can not be confirmed.
