Members of the archaeology section of the Woolhope Club visited the site on 05/05/91. They examined the earthwork which could be natural or it could indicate a fortified farm or castle. The site has the visual appearance of an eroded motte. There is buried stone in the mound and the outer enclosure although such stone is also found naturally in the area. There appears to be some worked stone in the area which could have come from elsewhere. Further investigation would be needed to confirm its status. (Herefordshire SMR)
