Gatehouse Comments

PastScape references the Cheshire SMR (Vales Royal District 1979) but this does not seem to be recorded in the online Cheshire HER. PastScape locate this in grid square SJ4973 which is an area south-west of the parish church at the Gatehouse given grid reference. The tenurial history given by Ormerod would be consistent with a manor house with defences and a martial architectural style but little remained of it in the early C19 when Ormerod was writing and its form and exact location seem lost.
