Clwyd Powys Archaeological Trust record of ? medieval castle reads 'Remains of a strong rectangular enclosure measuring 90 yards by 45 yards and aligned north-east to south-west protected on three sides by steep natural slopes and on west by a ditch and bank and producing a large quantity of stone which was subsequently used for building when ploughed (Hamer, E., 1868; Davies, D. 1857). No such feature visible to OS 1978 Feature possible destroyed. Possible mis-siting and duplication of PAR 1845. Note also aerial photo mark (Supposedly of natural origin) at SN99868966 - see PAR 6293).'

Gatehouse Comments

Was the stone produced by ploughing already worked? There are a number of stone quarries in the area. The description certainly suggests the feature to the NE of building marked as Cloisybank on the OS map although this seems to be current and old field boundaries.
