Clwyd Powys Archaeological Trust record of ? medieval castle reads 'Building foundations (OS 1963). No further details though Tre Castell placename possible significant.'

Gatehouse Comments

Location by road near minor ford crossing of River Severn but probably not a suitable place for a taxation point. It is entirely possibly that the building foundations are incidental to the castell placename but this placename and the location is suggestive of a possible 'knights fee' type dwelling either a lost earthwork and timber structure or a pele tower of later date.
