Clwyd Powys Archaeological Trust record of ? motte reads 'Mound 32,5m diameter NW-SE by 28m across and 2.7m high constructed on morainic mound possibly used as bailey (OS 1981). Possible ditch cropmark 60m diameter (CPAT, AP, 1978)'.

Gatehouse Comments

Site on small rise 250m north of bridge in valley floor, about 700m from village and church. What is the reason this mound has escaped the attention of the usual authorities? Marked on modern OS map as mound but not on earlier maps. It is not hidden and King and Spurgeon will certainly have driven past this mound on occasions. It is more likely, looking at the air photo, that this is actually a morainic mound altered only by natural forces and the tramping of livestock.
