Gatehouse Comments

On 1st edition OS map marked Tre-Owen (1621), the date presumably refering to the house, and shown as three sides of a square earthwork. On aerial photo appears 'neatened' but still square. Recorded in Coflein as Tudor garden earthworks. The position on a ridgeway is not uncharacteristic of castles and the house may be on the site of a earlier medieval house but the earthworks do not seem to be defensive and, therefore, there is no actual evidence of a medieval fortification here.
