King writes 'doubtful mound, possibly ringwork' Recorded in Glamorgan-Gwent Archaeological Trust HER as natural feature. Spurgeon (1999) writes "It was certainly not a motte, and it is most improbable that it was a castle-ringwork." In RCAHMW (1991) note records as "Indeterminate traces of a rock cut ditch"

Gatehouse Comments

Was this a 'rock cut ditch' or just a small quarry (or putative exploraton for a possible quarry site)?
