The site indicated is on crest of very steep slope and has extensive view in all directions. Several large pits and mounds, which show strong stone content. (Glamorgan-Gwent Archaeological Trust HER record of medieval castle)

Gatehouse Comments

This site has been considered by some writers to be a castle but is rejected as such by Hogg and King. "Small ruin at the top of a cliff; probably derives its title of 'castle' from this dramatic site." Spurgeon also rejects site but writes the name and strong position made it a favoured location for Bauzans Castle.
