Reid writes, of a site he places 3.5 miles west of Llandeilo, "Lord Rhys is said to have built this small castle, now badly ruined, at the time he held Carreg Cennen Castle as part of the inheritance of Dynevor in the last part of C12. Nothing seems to have been recorded of its history." It is unclear as to what Reid is referring to but presumably it is to Allt y Gaer a possible medieval fortified house.

Historic home with a history extending back to mediaeval times. Now a working farmstead comple. (Dyfed Archaeological Trust HER medieval fortified house)
