A mound, c.33m in diameter and c.4.0m high, removed to the NW, with no trace of a ditch or bailey. (Coflein)
Motte some 14.6m base dia by 5.5m high. Bailey to E postulated by King, D J C, 1961. Formerly noted as barrow by OS, 1964. (Clwyd Powys Archaeological Trust HER)
The monument comprises the remains of a motte and ditch, dating to the medieval period (c. 1066 -1540 AD). The site comprises a large elongated motte, orientated N/S, with a long and narrow summit 11m long. Its original shape has been altered by the development of the adjacent farm. The mound is steep sided and around 5m high on the W and 3.5m high on the E, where the surrounding ground is slightly higher. The surrounding ditch has been completely filled in. The bailey was probably located to the E. This motte is located on the opposite side of the Afon Llynfi from Trefecca Castle Mound (BR083), and together they would have commanded the gorge of the Llynfi. (Scheduling Report)
