Earthworks, undescribed, said to lie just west of Beili Helig farm on the south side of Llanfaes and to be the possible site of 'Crwcws Castle' (Parry). Uninvestigated earthwork, possibly a motte (Marvell and Locock). (Clwyd Powys Archaeological Trust HER)

Gatehouse Comments

On hillside south of Brecon and overlooking the town, beside the road. Since this has been missed by the usual authorities it can be assumed the earthworks are not in a good state. The location is not really that typical of a castle but might be that of a medieval farmstead, held by military service and dressed with some features (ditches and a small mound) to suggest the knightly status of the tenant.
